More Mishaps, But I'm Here.
So I spoke too soon :-)
I was able to visit Barcelona again alot sooner than expected... my Easyjet flight out of Barcelona was delayed two hours, then flat out canceled, leaving an irate planeload of Britons scrambling to find another flight and a hotel for the night in packed Barcelona. Luckily the tourist information and hotel booking booth attendant was both English-speaking and friendly! So a very exhausted and sweaty and frustrated Anna was to be found plodding through Plaza Catalunya yet again Tuesday evening. I managed to get a flight out at 10.45am Wednesday morning, but it meant another wasted morning, aargh! I'm thinking perhaps I've jinxed myself with public transport as I also had tube delays, with a poor man under the train closing the Victoria line, and then a congestion of trains near Earl's Court last night!
Anyway, yesterday afternoon after I arrived I rushed off to see the Tower of London, which was fantastic, althought the three hours I allowed wasn't nearly enough. The place is dripping with stories and history. I managed to cover the major stuff, with an hour long tour by a hilarious yeoman guide, then a tour of the beautiful crown jewels, a visit to the armoury and the ravens, and up to one of the towers, where I learnt all about how they cut the Kohi Noor and Callihan diamonds. However I could have spent another hour wandering the ramparts and exploring the many other towers. Next trip I'll be back to finish it!
That evening I managed to catch up with my friends Gail, Lesley and Sheena, over a great dinner in buzzing St Christophers Place.
Today I'm off to see the Shakespeare Globe Theatre and revisit the Tate Modern this morning, meet Nivi and Vasi for lunch and then spend the afternoon mooching around Oxford Circus/Bond Street (and buying luggage... I spent up a bit much in Barcelona and have no room left, yikes).
So, last leg of the grand tour...
